National Apple Pie Day – May 13

NATIONAL APPLE PIE DAY

The powers that be have proclaimed May 13 to be National Apple Pie Day, here in the USA.

It is a well established fact that the apple pie did not originate in this country, but we seem to have a special affection for it. Notably the phrase “as American as apple pie” has been around for more than 100 years.

So, have a slice or two - in these days no one will fault you.  As Fabienne says, “Any time of day is a good time for pie.”  (Although I recall that her favorite flavor is blueberry.)

May 10, among other things, is National Shrimp Day in the US of A.

Some say that shrimp is the most popular seafood in America; and seems to be a hit worldwide as well.

A search of "shrimp" in my food photography files seems to bear out the hypothesis that I am doing my share when it comes to consumption. I hasten to point out that I try to be judicious in my purchases.
