National Odometer Day

Perhaps far too often, when I am stumped for a post topic I turn to one of the many national day calendars for inspiration. I am frequently amused by two things - the relative obscurity of things that are celebrated, and that I have a photo in my archive that fits the occasion.
It seems that National Odometer Day is observed annually on May 12 to raise awareness about odometers and their importance in vehicle maintenance. It highlights the history of odometers and encourages vehicle owners to check their mileage for maintenance decisions.
