What's in a name?

When I think of "pigs in a blanket" my first thought is of breakfast sausages wrapped in pancakes. This is one of my favorite breakfasts, which I like to douse in boysenberry syrup, as opposed to the usual maple.

However, it turns out that National Pigs in a Blanket Day is a holiday celebrating pork sausage (or hotdogs) baked in pastry.  It seems that many versions of this dish can be found through out the world, but is far from the top of my list of things to savor.

Clearly, that is just me. A quick search of the inter webs came up with almost no mention of the pancake version. Live and learn.

This year, California Native Plant Week runs from April 15 thorough April 22 (Earth Day).  The state is one of the most biodiverse regions on the planet with more than 6,000 types of plants. I thought that I would share some photos of some of my favorites (in no particular order).

We Are the Champions

 A Six Nations Grand Slam

An annual rugby union competition contested by the national teams of England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland, and Wales; the 24th  2023 Six Nations Championship (known as the Guinness Six Nations for sponsorship reasons) was played out February 4 – March 18.

Ireland took the championship with a Grand Slam, i.e., winning every game they played.

Obviously, this is old news. But, my replica ball just arrived the other day, and not having much else on my mind, I decided to post about it. My Aunt Dagmar would have opined that some times it is better not say anything at all. But, I did not want to break my streak.
